Comfy?

I'm trying to think of something real "pithy" to say. I had a lecturer at Multnomah way back when, who always had pithy sayings. But I just can't think of one. So I'll just type a few words instead.

While doing my errands this morning, I walked past this sign, thinking to myself, I wonder if there isn't some sort of meaning there. Of course, it is pointing to a covered parking area downtown! Yet as I began to think about it, these thoughts came to mind.

As I, (or could it be we, should someone be reading this post), begin this new year of 2010, I am curious as to how we are "parked" in our faith with the Lord. Are we going to park our faith inside our lives where it won't be challenged, get dirty, become a danger to someone else's life (maybe our own as well), or are we going to take a chance on loving someone who is unloveable, putting our faith outside into action, breathing in and out life, no matter where the Lord should place us?

My prayer is that we would be a fragrance to all around us. Let's not just associate with the clean, the well clothed, the ones who "smell nice." Let's reach out to those who are dirty, wearing the patched jackets, and who "smell foul." After all, Jesus did come for all. So let's not wear the social stigma, but throw it off and wear the clothing of Christ this new year.

Let's be comfortable being a bit uncomfortable.
